Antiques Dealer Accused of Stealing His Arrest Warrant

Here's a funny story..

Scott Zubee,, went to Clinton, Connecticut's police headquarters over a court warrant charging him with stealing a valuable antique mirror that a Vermont man had put up for auction, the New Haven Register reports.

Zubee, who lives in Haddam, CT. and has a shop in Clinton, was released on bond. But, when the arresting officer returned to the booking room, he could not find the arrest warrant or supporting documentation.

But the mystery was soon solved because surveillance cameras at the police station filmed Zubee slipping the warrant into a folder he happened to have brought with him to the station, cops said.

State police tracked down Zubee at his Haddam home, where they also found the missing arrest warrant, cops said.

So, now Zubee faces the additional charges of tampering with evidence, larceny and interfering.

Cops also recovered the mirror at the center of the larceny charges. After switching hands several times, it last sold for $3,800, cops said.

There was no street value on the warrant.
