Bakelite Group
Bakelite (ˈbey-kuh-lahyt, beyk-lahyt) was the first synthetic plastic discovered in New York in 1907 and the formula was acquired by the American Catlin Company in 1927. Bakelite/Catlin examples are multi-colored and exist in toys, kitchen accessories, radios and game pieces. The popularity of bakelite jewelry goes without saying.
